..second challenge Q&L prompt from the Craft Barn., I thought of "Give'em the Old Razzle Dazzle" from "Chicago" but who remembers this gem.
Ah, those were the days!
But the song that stuck in my mind was "I loved you one in silence" from "Camelot". I saw the original production of this at Drury Lane. It was a beautiful production and years later I drew heavily on my memories when I was wardrobe mistress for our amateur production. I can't remember how many cloaks I made and working out which bit of armour went where.
But I digress, my first thoughts were to do something medieval and romantic but my lack of artistic skills prevented that and then I had a very silly thought.
I thought of the wonderfully ridiculous shoes which are about at the moment. I would love to own a pair but I at my age I know the pain they would cause. My slippers is where I'm at. So it remains an unrequited love affair. Tenuous I know but if did let me make this dazzling shoe.
If you don't know the song this is Julie Andrews's vesion. Audio only.

A Wet Friday.....
Yesterday it poured, all day, but I had been invited to the workshop of a new musical so I boarded the bus and went to a part of London I had never been before. I made it to The Hackney Empire in spite of the fact that the bus windows were completely opaque with condensation. The musical is called "The Silver Sword" and is based on this book which I somehow missed out reading. I do hope it makes it to the big stage because even in workshop form I laughed and cried and I liked the music and would like to hear it again. Well worth the soaking.
Have you noticed, I have received a gold star for my "A" entry of the Craft Barn Alphabet Challenge. Very pleased.
We are going north for a week so I will have to contain my impatience at trying out this technique from Gelli Arts.
Have a good week.

Juggling.....
things are a bit hectic here at the moment, our Youth Theatre production of "Nine" is racing towards us, so lots of long rehearsals. Equally our Tenth Anniversary of Sevenoaks EG is also coming soon, (April) and prjects have to be finished. Eeeek! However the last issue of Cloth,Paper, Scissors(34) made me put all that aside while I tried out the article by Wen Redmond, "Fabric collage Mail Art". Here are four of the eight I made all in one go. Mass production, marvellous.
I also managed to put my Ideas of Inspiration post up this morning, the theme this month is Square. This is a church window in Ravenna, Italy, I played with it a little(PSP) and love the effect on the glass.

It's been a funny week....
By the law of *"!! we have just arranged to have out living room and staircase etc decorated and carpeted, so what happens???? Last Friday the television died. Admitted it has been on the blink for a while,(people don't have purple skin do they???) but did it have to chose just now and now in another month or so? Monday DH dropped his pre-shave bottle into the washbasin .....new washbasin required immediately!!!(Happily it was his turn I broke the last one dropping a heavy glass soap dish in it!!) Same day I started a drippy cold. Another drippy cold!!!!. Tuesday feeling much better I set out for a long awaited playday with some friends from the EG We were going to workshop an article by Kelly Rae Roberts published in Cloth Paper and Scissors. Apart from my drip, which worsened during the day, we had a great time, thanks girls, I was right outside my comfort zone with both with the painting and the size I chose. I don't usually do anything bigger that A4, this time the canvas was about
20" x 14".

It really looks better here than it really is, I rushed dying the background (there's a novelty) and I missed out a step before painting(there's a novelty) and I have cheated with a charcoal pencil instead of using a paint brush (open eyes totally defeated me)but I really am delighted with the overall effect and I have her standing next to the wonderful portrait of the Queen which I tore out of the magazine.(I thought they would like each other's company)
This is a close up

I wish I had thought to take my camera so I could show what they others did...next time!
Wednesday was golf, and this is the card I have made for our new Lady Captain who drives in tomorrow.

inspired by Carol Naylor (see previous post)I printed a picture of our golf club onto cotton and then machined into it. I finished it off with a little hand stitching to give it some added depth. I also used this technique for a Calendar Girl card but more of that later and just to prove that I haven't been slacking I have been working on something for EG which will be revealed later, as it is for the area day in June!
New television arrived yesterday, a 42" plasma, the picture is incedible and I just can't wait for the NFL season to start!! Yes I can because it's not until September but boy, is it going to be good!. I watched the musical "The Producers" (one of my favourites) on DVD last night, it was nearly as good as being in the cinema.
