That's it......
I am addicted.... to the Olympic Flame Relay. I never have the TV on in a morning but realised this morning they were showing the start of the relay. Two hours later I'm still there. Watching the mixture of nervousness, pride and happiness in the faces as each bearer takes the flame. Magic. I have found that the whole thing is on the old analogue channel, no annoyingly, banal commentators, just watching it all happen. You can follow it's progress here.
I am loving the guy who unlocks the torches, the super fit discreet police escort but most of all the happy cheering crowds. The politicians and the press tell us the future is grim and I feel it may very well be but for the moment let us revel in our British way of doing things and enjoy the Jubilee and the Olympics when it comes. We can go back to being gloomy afterwards...

Enjoy the experience Pat it is such a great occasion.I remember when the 2000 Olympics were in Sydney the pride we Aussies felt at how we were able to put on such a wonderful event.The Olympic torch relay went near our place in Canberra and we were able to see them exchange the torches.We were also lucky enough to get tickets to the Athletic Stadium for an evening session.This is something that I will remember forever.
Hi, I've popped over from Our View From Our Hill and just had to leave a comment. Up until now I've not been very enthusiastic about the Olympics, probably because I live in a London borough and the thought that with all the cuts we will be paying for it for years to come! BUT I must admit that when I saw the flame and the start of the relay I felt proud that the Olympics will be held in this country. The relay will be traveling into our village, and we plan to go and see it pass,you are right we should revel in our British way of doing things and 'IF' the politicians are right we should enjoy it while we can....
I also read your previous post, Lynda is a really talented artist and such a modest lady. I've been lucky enough to attend a couple of her day workshops, if you get a chance I would recommend it.
When it was here in Sydney we had the best time of our lives. We still talk about all these years later!
Make sure you go even if you haven't got tickets - the atmosphere is so worth while you will remember it forever. Just to be there is magical (and we are not sport fanatics!)
It brings the country together like you can't imagine. Just do it!
